Villa Asteri - Traditional Elegant Villa

A stone family house from 1955 in a quiet Cretan village, 12 km from Rethymno. For decades part of it was a carpentry workshop, and the tools, the handmade furniture and the story are still here. Four bedrooms and four bathrooms, a double and a twin on each floor, for up to 8 guests. An enclosed garden with a private pool and a separate shallow children’s pool, BBQ, wood-fired oven and a covered veranda. The beach is 3 km away, a village taverna 100 m.

Villa Asteri is the Skordilis family home. From the 1950s until the early 1980s part of it was the carpentry workshop of the owner’s father. His green sideboard still stands in the kitchen, his tools hang on the walls, and much of the furniture was made by the owner himself: the cypress dining table, the sofas, the bathroom vanities and the carpenter’s workbench in the garden.

• Both pools are unheated. There is no fence between the terrace and the water, so children need an adult watching at all times.
• Enclosed garden, pergola dining, BBQ, wood-fired oven and a Parasia, a traditional Cretan open hearth

• Private parking for 2 cars and a free EV charger (Type 2, up to 22 kW, cable provided, on request)
• The beds are fixed, so the twin beds cannot be pushed together into a double.

Good to know

• Check-in from 15:30, check-out by 11:00. Guests are usually welcomed in person by the owner’s family.
• One mid-stay clean for stays of 6–7 nights, more for longer stays, with fresh bed linen and towels each time. Pool towels are provided.
• Not wheelchair accessible: the ground floor is raised about 7–10 cm above the outdoor areas, and the upstairs bedrooms are 20 steps up.
• No smoking inside. Pets are welcome on request. Not suitable for parties or events.
• For bigger groups, Villa Kitron next door and Villa Myrrini 70 m away can be booked together with Villa Asteri (MAZI), for up to 20 guests.
• The Greek climate resilience fee (€15 per night April–October, €4 per night November–March) is paid at the villa on arrival.
